H.R.3668 To provide for the extension of transitional medical assistance (TMA), the abstinence education program, and the qualifying individuals (QI) program, and for other purposes.
The bill extended three medically related programs. The Transition Medical Assistance program aids mothers who are in transition from welfare to work who are without health insurance. The coverage is granted for one year. The bill extends the program for three more months.
The abstinence Education Program aims to prevent teen pregnancy and premarital sex with the goals of reducing unwed pregnant mothers.
The Qualified Individuals Program provides Medicare Part B premium assistance to low-income seniors who earn between $12 thousand and $13.7 thousand yearly.
In addition, the bill provides relief to hospitals burdened with regulatory cuts and delays for six months a requirement that prescriptions are written on tamper-resistant paper in order for the hospitals to be eligible for reimbursement.
