H.R.3625 To make permanent the waiver authority of the Secretary of Education with respect to student financial assistance during a war or other military operation or national emergency.
The 2003 law gave the Secretary of Education the authority to waive provisions governing conditions and payment of Federal student loans for active duty military and others who, affected by natural disaster, for example, can not meet the required obligations stipulated by the loan agreement. The waiver authority was for four years. The bill makes the authority permanent.
