H.R.1664 To authorize grants for contributions toward the establishment of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library.

The Archivist of the National Archives and Records Administration is authorized to make grants that contribute funds to the effort of establishing a library in Staunton, Virginia to house and preserve materials related to the life of President Woodrow Wilson. Like other presidential libraries, the Wilson library will provide interpretive and educational services that communicate to visitors the life of that president.

Grants can only be made to match non-Federal funds in an amount at least double the grant amount. The no-Federal funds must be certified before the grant can be released. It is also required that a grant recipient is operating in cooperation with other Federal and Non-Federal historic sites, etcetera that represent significant locations or events in President Wilson’s life.

Sponsor:  Rep. Bob Goodlatte (VA-6th)

Vote: Passed House by voice vote September 24, 2007

Cost to the taxpayers: Amounts can not be determined until non-Federal funds are made available. No amount is authorized in the bill.

Earmark Certification:   Not applicable to this bill.
