S.2430 A bill to amend the Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Restoration Act of 1990 to provide for implementation of recommendations of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service contained in the Great Lakes Fishery Resources Restoration Study.
The bill authorizes the Director of the US Fish and Wildlife Services to implement proposals and projects related to wildlife protection, restoration, maintenance, and enhancement in the best interest of the Great Lakes basin. A goal is established to restore and maintain self-sustaining fish and wildlife resources.
The bill tends to continue an effort that began in 1998 with a restoration act governing the Great Lakes region.
Two offices are established within USFWS to study and manage the effort and to submit reports to Congress on the progress.
