H.R.3408 To reauthorize the Livestock Mandatory Reporting Act of 1999 and to amend the swine reporting provisions of that Act.
BRIEF
The bill aims to reauthorize and clarify reporting requirements regarding swine purchases, slaughtering and sales on a daily basis.
Slaughterhouses that slaughter at least 100,000 swine over five years or an individual who slaughtered over 200,000 swine over five years are required to report to the Department of Agriculture, daily, the number of male and female swine purchased, ordered and slaughtered daily. Purchase and price data must also be reported to include discounts offered and weight of deliveries and sales.
Data would be published by the USDA by 11:00 a.m. daily.
