S.1694 A bill to allow the funding for the interoperable emergency communications grant program established under the Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act of 2005 to remain available until expended through fiscal year 2012, and for other purposes.
Grant funding for the interoperable emergency communications program related to the transition from analogue to digital TV broadcasting is extended through fiscal year 2012 until expended.
The period for performance of any investment approved under the program shall be extended for one year but no later that September 30, 2011. The Secretary of Commerce may extend the period on a case-by-case basis, but not for more than two years.
The Secretary must consider the circumstances that gave rise to the need for an extension, the likelihood of completion within deadlines and other factors deemed important.
