S. 443 A bill to improve the investigation of criminal antitrust offenses.
BRIEF
The bill amends current law to authorize wire taps in cases regarding illegal restraint of trade and monopoly under the Sherman (Anti-trust) Act.
The Congressional Research Service explained the bill this way: “Amends the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to make prohibitions against illegal restraints of trade or commerce, illegal monopolizing of trade or commerce, and illegal restraints of trade or commerce in the territories or the District of Columbia under the Sherman Act predicate offenses for an order authorizing the interception of wire or oral communications.”
