H.R.2614 To amend the Reclamation Wastewater and Groundwater Study and Facilities Act to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to participate in certain water projects in California.

 

The Secretary of Interior is authorized to participate in the design, plan and construction of projects in California’s Santa Ana Watershed. The projects aim to reclaim, treat and reuse impaired surface water as well as dispose of brine. The projects will be in cooperation with the Yucaipa Valley Water District affecting the city of Corona Water Utility.

 

The Federal government share is limited to 25% of the project cost and may not be used for operation and maintenance.

Vote: Passed House by voice vote November 13, 2007

Cost to the taxpayers: Authorized is $20 million.
