Presidential Notice of the continuation of the national emergency with respect to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa.
The President declared a national emergency in 2006 with respect to or in relation to the Democratic Republic of Congo and ordered measure to block the property of persons contributing to the conflict there. The conflict has been marked with violence and the risk of destabilizing the region. Those sanctioned blocked the release of assets of individuals considered a threat to the democratic process sought by people in the Democratic Republic of Congo, including assets of government officials. The assets must be in the US, under US control or will come into US jurisdiction.
Because the situation continues unresolved, the President is continuing his 2006 declaration for another year.
