Presidential Determination 2008-3 US drug interdiction assistance to the Government of Brazil.
Under the 1995 Defense Authorization Act, the President certifies with respect to Brazil that the interdiction of aircraft reasonably suspected to be engaged in illicit drug trafficking in Brazil airspace is necessary because of the extraordinary threat to Brazil and that the country has appropriate procedures in place to protect against innocent loss of life in the air and on the ground if such interdiction takes place. The President certifies that those procedures are effective in identifying and warning an aircraft before the use of force is directed at the aircraft.
