S.1338 A bill to require the Secretary of the Interior, acting through the Bureau of Reclamation and the United States Geological Survey, to conduct a study on groundwater resources in the State of Alaska, and for other purposes.

                                                                                         

BRIEF

   The bill would direct the Secretary of Interior to conduct a survey of accessible water supply on the Kenai Peninsula near Anchorage, Alaska and the Matanuska-Susitna borough, said the Congressional Research Service. Also slated would be an assessment of water treatment needs and technologies and a review of the need for enhancement of the stream flow information collected by the National Geological Survey as it relates to water needs in the areas of infrastructure risks to state transportation, flood forecasting, resource extraction and fire management.
