H.R.1140 To authorize the Secretary, in cooperation with the City of San Juan Capistrano, California, to participate in the design, planning, and construction of an advanced water treatment plant facility and recycled water system, and for other purposes.

 

Current law is amended to authorize federal cooperation with the city of San Juan Capistrano, CA in designing, planning and building an advanced water treatment plant and a recycled water system. Also authorized is participation with San Clemente, CA for design, planning and building a project to increase distribution of reclaimed water, water storage and water treatment facilities.

 

The federal cost share for both projects is 25% each and funds may not be used for operations and maintenance.

Vote: Passed House by voice vote May 7, 2007

Cost to the taxpayers: $23.5 million. San Juan Capistrano Project-$18.5 million. San Clemente-$5 million
