H.R.247 To designate a Forest Service trail at Waldo Lake in the Willamette National Forest in the State of Oregon as a national recreation trail in honor of Jim Weaver, a former Member of the House of Representatives.

In the Williamette National Forest (Lane County, Oregon) there is a trail that begins at North Waldo Campground, extends around Waldo Lake and ends about where it began. The trail called #3590 and is 19.6 miles long.

This bill would change the name to the Jim Loop Trail in honor of Jim Weaver, a former member of the US House of Representatives and designates it as a national recreation trail.

A sign is ordered to be prepared, installed and maintained to indicate the name of the trail and provide a little information regarding the life and career of the Congressman.

Sponsor:  Rep. Peter A. DeFazio (D-or-4th)

Vote: Passed House by voice vote March 5, 2007

Cost to the taxpayers: No discernible cost beyond signage.

Earmark Certification:   Not applicable to this bill.
