S.2120 Milk Regulatory Equity Act of 2005

Class I milk handlers, those who process and distribute milk, would be subject to uniform pricing based on prices in the county in which the Class I handler operates. Exempt from the pricing would be milk handlers operating production facilities separate from other producers, those who move less than three million pounds of milk in a month and those operating in a distribution area that requires minimum pricing for raw milk.

Nevada is excluded in the bill from federal milk marketing orders.

Sponsor: Senator John Kyl (R-AZ)

Vote: Passed House 285 to 128 (RC 69) March 28, 2006.
