H.R.1139 To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to plan, design and construct facilities to provide water for irrigation, municipal, domestic, and other uses from the Bunker Hill Groundwater Basin, Santa Ana River, California, and for other purposes.

 

The Secretary of Interior is authorized to cooperate with the Western Municipal Water District in the planning, design and construction of a water supply project, the Riverside-Corona Feeder in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, CA.

 

The project includes 20 groundwater wells, groundwater treatment facilities, water storage and pumping facilities as well as 28 miles of pipeline.

 

The Federal share of up to 25% is not to exceed $50 million. In addition the Secretary may spend up to 50% of the total study cost.

Vote: Passed House by voice vote June 5, 2007

Cost to the taxpayers: $50 million is authorized.
