H.R.42 To ensure that the right of an individual to display the flag of the United States on residential property not be abridged.

A condominium association, cooperative association or residential real estate management association may not adopt or enforce a policy that would prevent a member from displaying the US flag on residential property under the associations. Neither can the entities enter into an agreement restricting the display.

How the flag is displayed and when or in what manner is left up to current regulations but a reasonable restriction pertaining to time, place or manner of display to protect substantial interest of the condominium, cooperative or residential real estate management association is in order.

Sponsor: Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett (MD-6th)

Vote: Passed House by voice vote June 27, 2006. Passed Senate by Unanimous Consent July 18, 2006.

Cost to the taxpayers: No discernible cost.
