H.R.359 To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of sites associated with the life of Cesar Estarada Chavez and the farm labor movement.
The Secretary of Interior is directed to conduct a special resource study of methods for preserving and interpreting geographical sites in Arizona and California that represent the life of migrant worker activist Cesar Chavez. Chavez led the farm labor movement through the 1960s.
The study would look for sites that typify his effort and determine if they meet the criteria for listing on the National Register of Historic Places or can be designated as a national historic landmark or inclusion in the National Park System.
The Secretary will consult with the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation, the United Farm Workers Union and State and local historical organizations. The study results are due within three years.
