S.310 A bill to direct the Secretary of the Interior to convey the Newlands Project Headquarters and Maintenance Yard Facility to the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District in the State of Nevada.
BRIEF
The Truckee-Carson Irrigation District has been operating and managing and delivering water for irrigation to 73,000 acres of Nevada land. The District leased 40 acres of land from the US and wants title to 35.6 acres to make permanent improvements. The bill authorizes the transfer of title so that the District can acquire financing for the improvements.
The project has been in operation since 1926 and the District, over the years, has completely paid off the project. Some land that has been leased by the US to the city of Fallon, Nevada will be sold to the city for $115,000.
