S 285 A bill to reauthorize the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education Program.
BRIEF
The bill would require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to make payments to children's hospitals for expenses associated with operating approved graduate medical residency training programs. The funds would be authorized through 2010 to be used for direct and indirect expenses of operating a graduate medical residency training program in perinatal hospitals. The program matches others that provide funds for other graduate medical training.
A provision was added that would adjust how much is paid to the student depending on comparable wages in the area of the hospital where they work.
