HR 541 to direct the Secretary of Agriculture to convey certain land to Lander County, Nevada and to direct the Secretary of Interior to convey certain land to Eureka County Nevada fro continued use as cemeteries.

BRIEF

Both parcels of land – ten acres in Beowawe, NV and ten acres in Kingston, NV have been used as cemeteries by settlers and travelers going back to the 1800s. The Kingston Cemetery now resides on US Forest Service land (USDA) and the Maiden’s Grave Cemetery in Beowawe sits on Bureau of Land Management property (USDoI).

The properties would be transferred to the counties in which the cemeteries reside but title would return to the US if the properties were to be used for any purpose other than burying the dead.
