HR 1084 To authorize the establishment at Antietam National Battlefield of a memorial to the officers and enlisted men of the Fifth, Sixth, and Ninth New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry Regiments and the First New Hampshire Light Artillery Battery who fought in the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862, and for other purposes.
BRIEF
Coming up on 150 years since Civil War the battle at Antietam in Maryland, the bill would establish a monument commemorating the sacrifice of the Fifth, Sixth and Ninth New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry Regiments and the First New Hampshire Light Artillery Battery who fought and died at Antietam on September 17, 1862.
Such monuments can not be constructed with taxpayer funds. Only after the monument is approved by the Department of Interior and installed does the federal government take responsibility for maintaining it.

Cost to the taxpayers: Other than cost of maintaining the monument, the CBO sees on negligible expense to the taxpayers.
