BRIEF
The bill would direct the Sec. of Energy to implement a R&D program to advance high-end computing systems and to deploy them for advanced scientific and engineering applications and technology transfer to the private sector.
The complicated data: The program functions would include research in ‘multiple architectures, which may include vector, reconfigurable logic, streaming, processor-in-memory, and multithreading architectures; and software development on optimal algorithms, programming environments, tools, languages, and operating systems for high-end computing systems, in collaboration with architecture development efforts.’
The Secretary would also establish facilities to conduct advanced research called High-End Software Development Centers
