The Resolution designates the U.S. courthouse located at 555 Independence Street, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, as the "Rush Hudson Limbaugh, Sr. United States Courthouse.
Limbaugh Sr. is grandfather to the conservative radio personality of the same name. (Limbaugh III). Limbaugh Sr. died in 1996 at age 104. He was the President of the Missouri Bar Association, of the State Historical Society of Missouri, a US State Department special envoy to India and chairman of the ABA special committee on the Bill of Rights.
In an odd comment the bill sponsor, Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO-8th) was quoted by USA Today as saying “"a devoted family man, a man of faith, and a student of American history. He wouldn’t want his name adorning our courthouse, but that is exactly why it is important that we put it there.”
