S.2166 A bill to direct the Election Assistance Commission to make grants to States to restore and replace election administration supplies, materials, records, equipment, and technology which were damaged, destroyed, or dislocated as a result of Hurricane Katrina or Hurricane Rita.
The Election Assistance Commission is part of the Federal Election Commission and is directed to make grants to States to replace election resources damaged or destroyed by the 2005 hurricanes.
Qualified States are those who can show that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita were the cause of destruction, damage dislocation of significant impact of supplies, materials, records, equipment and technology used to administrate Federal elections.
The funds would also ensure that those dislocated by the storms fully participate in the elections.
