S.843 A bill to amend the Public Health Service Act to combat autism through research, screening, intervention and education.
The national Institute of Health is directed to develop a budget for research into autism spectrum disorders and to provide for centers of excellence regarding autism research, the Congressional Research Service reported. Collaborative programs are in order with researchers into deafness and other disorders. Programs within the Department of Health and Human Services is also required.
The centers of excellence will look into other, similar, disorders and a creation of a stored database of information. Environmental causes will be considered.
The bill makes available grants to develop statewide screening, diagnosis and intervention programs regarding autism
