S.2120 A bill to ensure regulatory equity between and among all dairy farmers and handlers for sales of packaged fluid milk in federally regulated milk marketing areas and into certain non-federally regulated milk marketing areas from federally regulated areas, and for other purposes.
BRIEF
The Federal government enters the dairy market is several ways with the idea that prices of milk, in particular, remain fairly constant throughout the country. Wholesale dairy prices can vary and some areas of the country are regulated, others are not.
This bill basically establishes a level playing field for handlers of dairy products by requiring a minimum price for the raw milk products they handle.
