H.R.853 To remove certain restrictions on the Mammoth Community Water District's ability to use certain property acquired by that District from the United States.
BRIEF
Data supporting the bill noted that the Mammoth Community Water District acquired 25 acres in 1987 from the US Forest Service to be used for wastewater treatment operations. Times have changed and the District wants to use around 12 acres designated for storage for other uses. The original land transfer, as many federal land transfers do, required that the land be used only for the purpose in the original land transfer bill or the property title would revert to the Federal government. To avoid losing title the District must ask Congress to approve the new use of the land. No explanation of the new use was given in the bill.
