HR 2121 authorizing additional appropriations for the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowship Program Trust Fund and other purposes.

BRIEF

The Eisenhower Exchange Fellowship program began fifty years ago honoring the 34th US President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The program provides the opportunity for foreign leaders in government, industry or civil society to be exposed to American political institutions, private sector commerce, educational opportunities and cultural and societal traditions. The program is to be extended to leaders from Arab countries.

The bill was supported by former Nixon administration official Henry Kissinger who noted the timeliness of the legislation. Mr. Kissinger will be chairing the Fellowship’s 50th anniversary board meeting and presenting the Eisenhower Medal for Leadership to outgoing chairman George H.W. Bush.
