H.R.6113 To amend title 44, United States Code, to require each agency to include a contact telephone number in its collection of information.

The Comptroller General is directed to conduct a study on the number of complaints made to an agency or other entity by a person receiving the collection of information from and agency with respect to the agency’s contact telephone number or lack of one. The status of resolution of the complaints are to be included in the report. The report, due within one year,  will be submitted to Congress.

Sponsor:  Rep. Nancy Boyda (KS-2nd)

Vote: Passed House July 30 2008 394 to 0 RC 535

Cost to the taxpayers: “CBO estimates that

implementing H.R. 6113 would have no significant impact on the federal budget. Although

the legislation could affect agencies not funded through annual appropriations (such as the Tennessee Valley Authority or the U.S. Postal Service), CBO estimates that any net increase in spending by those agencies would not be significant.”
