  Prohibiting smoking a the Rayburn building cafeteria and tightening the financial strings over the Architect of the Capitol for extensive cost overruns for the Capitol Visitor’s Center construction are part of this $3.03 billion spending bill. BROADBAND INTERNET BILL PASSES

 

Net Neutrality Remains Point of Contention

 

   The bill in general allows for eligible individuals and groups to obtain a national franchise to provide broadband communication services, but a provision in the bill  ‘network neutrality’ has drawn most of the attention. Network neutrality currently exists because no one can control content. As long as there is net neutrality efforts to control aspects of the Internet are ineffective. Various consumer organizations have pressed Congress to include network neutrality in the bill for fear that corporations could restrict, for example, access to some websites and allow easy access to others for a price..
