S.1104 A bill to increase the number of Iraqi and Afghani translators and interpreters who may be admitted to the United States as special immigrants.

Aliens who served as translators and interpreters can be given special immigration status under this bill. The bill allows up to 500 immigrants of that nature during FY 2007 through 2009. During any other fiscal year the number would be 50.

If such an alien has an unlawful past that would preclude admittance to the US the Secretary of Homeland Security may waive the restrictions if the alien was paroled or admitted as a nonimmigrant to the US and is otherwise eligible for special immigrant status under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
